Manhattan

Woody Allen's film Manhattan is one of the most beautiful B & W films that I have ever seen; and it is one of my favorite Woody Allen films to date.

With lines like, 'Gossip is the new porn...' you really can't go wrong.

Another interesting note, the first time Woody Allen saw the film 2001 he left the theater feeling unsatisfied; he simply didn't get it and he wasn't alone. The film received such bad reviews that Stanley Kubrick was left feeling pretty distraught. Of course 'normal folks' or non-critics who were probably dabbling in mind-altercation in various forms did 'get it' and the film went on to become a classic by any standard once again proving that most critics are full of shit. The second time Woody Allen saw 2001 he left the theater with an understanding of the genius behind such a great film. In Manhattan Diane Keaton's character makes a reference to the 'computer from 2001'. I'm a very big fan of Diane Keaton; I think that she has done her best work with Woody Allen. And a big part of Woody Allen's genius remains in his casting choices. He has such great taste in women...And girls.
